Two vicious step-siblings of an elite Manhattan prep school make a wager: to deflower the new headmaster's daughter before the start of term.
Review
This is a movie I know quite well, having watched it many times. It is quite good from memory. I have also seen part 2, but never saw part 3 though. When you are watching a movie to review it and score it, you have to be a little more critical. I probably would have scored it a little higher otherwise. I think this movie is very character driven. Specifically the 2 step siblings, you have to love to hate them. A modern take on Dangerous Liaisons. I thought the actors did a very good job in portraying their characters. Great soundtrack also. The thing with these teen drama movies, they probably belong to when they were made, 20 years ago. I don’t think they can stand the test of time. A good pick which I have probably scored more out of nostalgia.
Trivia
Columbia Pictures wanted Katie Holmes to play Annette Hargrove, but writer and director Roger Kumble didn't think she had enough strength of character for the role. Ryan Phillippe was already signed on as Sebastian Valmont when Kumble asked about his girlfriend, Reese Witherspoon
