If Boards has taught us anything it's that upgrades aren't worth it. Stick with what you have for as long as you can.

I'm usually always on my work laptop so wont be getting it anytime soon.

Will fire up the desktop sometime and see if it's there. Won't be in any hurry to upgrade though until it's all patched

You're better off not going for it - apparently even though the option is available to all Windows 10 users to upgrade, not all laptops and PC's will be compatible with Windows 11 (apparently you'll be able to roll back if that's the case, but you'll likely lose all your files etc. in the process). If you are planning to pull a Spinal Tap and turn it up to 11, just make sure your device will actually be compatible.

Windows said they're going to keep updating Windows 10 through 2025 anyway, at which point I'll likely be on to a new laptop that comes pre-installed with Windows 11, so gonna be sticking with Windows 10 and not risking it myself.

I think you have 10 days to roll back to Window 10 without losing your files. After the 10 days, its a rollback and fresh install. There is an app you can use from Microsoft that will do a compatibility check to see if your PC can run W11.

My laptop is eligible for the upgrade as it is fairly new, but I haven't been offered it yet. I would happily upgrade to to see what Windows 11 is like. We will probably have to upgrade eventually, so I will do it once the prompt comes I guess.

I don't think my almost 9 year old desktop could handle it tbh so no I wouldn't be upgrading, also I do a bit of programming as a hobby and the thought of trying to set up my development environment again, just ya no thanks!

your dev env should migrate with the upgrade, if it dont, that would be a pathetic upgrade experience!

Ah, forgot that Windows 11 had recently been released for the general public. I upgraded on my baseline model Microsoft Surface Go 2 back in August via the Windows Insider program and so far, I haven't experienced any negative consequences. Granted, the Go 2 isn't a powerhouse, but that was already the case on Windows 10 and is due to the anemic hardware.

I'd say the repositioned and redesigned Start Button and Start Menu will trip up a few people and I'm not 100% sure whether the dedicated widget menu is a smart idea, but apart from that, it's not a bad upgrade at all. Also, Windows Hello facial recognition has gotten a whole lot better with the upgrade.
Money talks. Mine always says goodbye!

The incessant buggying wore me down, i caved and pressed the big red button.

Lots of annoying things got pinned to start menu, which has been centered?? i'll be trying to figure out how to uncenter it. spent a little time unpinning stuff.

haven't noticed any improvements, just a GUI shakeup.

I'm sure as i notioce things, i'll comment on them.

Got the start menu back to where it should be, luckily, it was easy to get it back to where it should be.

I've finally decided to take the plunge on this today - it gives me a valid reason to avoid college work while it installs Big Grin
Some update was pushed, which brought me to a setup screen, and I thought it was W11, but it wasn't. When it came back up, I hit the install button, so hoping it all goes OK.
