Audiobooks originally came about as books for the blind. Fantastic, for the blind even if it's a pity that they are no longer cassette media based. They are also fantastic for people with dyslexic issues. This was a revelation to me when I discovered it 20 odd years ago .
Prefer factual, hist or bio. Bio read by the author, esp if experienced performer are usually very very good ( Terence Stamp and Dirk Bogarde come to mind )
Havnt come across multi character books much. I suppose Dear Lupin might be counted as one, I think its done very well. Fiction drives me up the walls ... 'cause life is stranger than fiction
