AlphaSHEEP SURLAW X-travaganza: When Games Collide - RSOAPS - 27-08-2021
I've been experimenting in the lab again, cross-breeding games to see what chaos I could come up with, and this is the latest result, a game that is one part SURLAW, one part SHEEP, and one part TOURNAMENT presented as one game... like a Turducken...
Here's how it works...
I've pre-selected 30 songs which will feature in the game, the artists of which correspond to a different letter of the alphabet, except for X which will have 5 artists appearing under its umbrella because its everyone's favourite letter and this is an X-travaganza after all.
I have divided the 30 songs into 6 groups of 5 for the SHEEP part of the game:
Group 1: A, B, C, D, E
Group 2: F, G, H, I, J
Group 3: K, L, M, N, O
Group 4: P, Q, R, S, T
Group 5: U, V, W, Y, Z
Group 6: The XXXXX Factor
Once we've gone through the group stages, there'll also be two Semi-Finals and a Final later in the game.
For each round (I'll do rounds day-by-day rather than all at once) I will post the 5 songs for that group and all you have to do is try and predict which of those 5 your fellow players will enjoy the most and PM me that song...
Everyone's individual answers will be fed into the SHEEPulator and points will be distributed among players just like with any other SHEEP.
However, the song that SHEEPs will also advance to the Semi-Final stage of the game and its the end of the road for the other four from that group, so as well as being in sync with your fellow players you're also voting for the song you'd ultimately like to see be crowned the winning song of the AlphaSHEEP.
In the event of a double or triple SHEEP at any point in the game, all points will be awarded to everyone as per usual, but I will break the tie of which song shall advance to the business end of things.
By the end of the game there'll be a winning song (the last song standing) and winning player/players (whomever has amassed the most SHEEP points).

Quite simply, I'll post 5 songs at a time and all you have to do is have a little listen to them (you'll have 24 hours if not more) and PM me which of those songs you like the best and hopefully others will agree with your choice so that you can earn valuable points...
Officially I will post the first Group of Songs (artists A-E) in the next post and if you wanna join in the game just PM me the name of the song you're backing / think will be the most popular amongst your peers. In order to gain a bit of traction and draw in as many punters as possible, I'm going to give a few days before the deadline for this first group (future groups will have a 24-hour deadline) so just drop me a PM with the song you're going for from Group 1 before 8pm on Monday. I'll then reveal the results of that round before officially launching the next category.
Unofficially, I'm going to give you links to the entire playlist if you want to listen ahead or whatever, but for the First Round deadline it's only the first 5 songs on the playlist that are actually relevant at this point.

That's the part you have to decide as SHEEP is not the only name in the game title, SURLAW (thats Walrus backwards in case anyone didn't cop that) is also in there. You need to decide if you want to go for glory and try to hit what you think will SHEEP each time or champion the songs you want to see advance, and hopefully the music tastes of others align with your own and that that song ends up ultimately SHEEPing.

Was debating whether to extend the deadline for this first round until tomorrow in the hopes to draw in a few of the weekdays-only crowd, or just fire ahead with however many I have by 9pm this evening, since it's pretty much an experimental run of the format I'm happy enough to fire ahead with a quality over quantity smaller pool of players anyway. People can join in on subsequent days if they fancy it, just obviously starting with the points disadvantage of not having submitted for Day 1.
I'll probably fire ahead as planned tonight, but if people prefer I hold off until tomorrow in the hopes of a few more players joining the ranks just say the word and I'll take it into consideration.

Going to extend the Round 1 deadline until 8pm Tomorrow (Monday) to give a few more people a chance to enter as some people don't go online at the weekend... Also because I'm in binge-watching Grey's Anatomy mode this evening so saves me having to pause that at nine.

Avril Lavigne - My Happy Ending progresses to Semi-Final 1 and sadly the other 4 songs are knocked out of the game...
I actually thought it would've been a close battle between Avril Lavigne and Carrie Underwood in Round 1, although I would've also backed Avril myself, and naturally I enjoy all the songs that appeared in the round and throughout the game or else I wouldn't have chosen them...
Feel free to discuss the Round 1 songs, but bear in my end that Avril Lavigne will be part of the Semi-Final SHEEP question so maybe avoid statements like "I'm going to pick this every single time" or "It's bound to win the entire game" etc. etc. so as not to influence how people pick their answers later in the game.

The big surprise for me was Everything Everything, never head of them or their song before but I was close to selecting it. (Avril nostalgia got me in the end

I went with the song I liked the best.
It was tight between both songs for me (Carrie and Device) and i went back n forth deciding which to choose.
