What we have: male, over 50, US based, not a politician/actor/businessman/academic/author or musician or dancer (but possibly involved in 'art' or 'the arts') /not a religious figure/ not military/ not a sportsperson, not particularly known for TV appearances.

Philanthropist- yes, but more in a private rather than overly public way.

Hmm...
Not particularly known for TV appearances?! (perhaps, as he's not on our screens every month but arguably has had a reasonably good TV profile)
Not involved in the arts? (surely he would qualify under this by virtue of having directed multiple global movie hits, by being ranked as one of the most successful directors ever and with some of his movies assessed as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant", per Wikipedia)
Not in business? (chairman of Amblin Entertainment!)
